New Works

Woven Theatre believes in the development of new plays and new artists. Playwrights form the bedrock of our artform and we want to support them and help them grow. Woven is a modern company, tackling modern issues, and that is why we believe so deeply in developing modern works. Currently, our main development program is run through The Loom: New Works Festival. More information can be found below.

OUR patron saint of new works, Opus

Woven’s first foray into new work development was presented in August of 2017 when we presented our first iteration of The Loom: New Works Festival with a public staged reading of the play Opus: The Totally Real, Not Made Up Story of a Boy and His Skeleton by River Timms. The play eventually received a full production by Woven in our 2018 season. As such, Opus has become our patron saint (of sorts) for our new work development programs. You will see him hovering over our actors during The Loom, and he will more than likely make an appearance at any other development programs we come up with!
